With the COVID-19 pandemic changing almost every aspect in our lives in only the span of six months, new ways of doing everyday things have arised— which has also paved ways for innovation and extra creativity in our daily lives. Here’s an inside look to every bored teen’s life when you aren’t allowed to go outside:
1. TikTok
It is undeniable that Tiktok has played a huge part in entertaining the community throughout the six months of quarantine, whether you like it or not. This combination of lip-syncing and micro-video content has captured the attention of Generation Z, though every few years a new app redefines the way we use social media, and unlike most of us, it seems to be that 2020 is Tiktok’s year.
2. Dalgona Coffee
If you’ve been scrolling through Instagram, Tiktok or Facebook in the past months, you’ve probably came across a video of someone whipping together sugar, instant coffee and boiling water which is then spooned over iced milk to create the foamy drink known as dalgona coffee—the food craze born of isolation.
3. Binge Reading and Watching
Whether it be the Netflix series you’ve been wanting to watch during the pre-pandemic days or that Wattpad story you’ve just never had the time to read; all that isolation in your own home has given you all the time to do what you want and opportunities to try something new from dusk ‘till dawn.
4. Among Us
Despite being released in 2018, the popular indie game Among Us by Innersloth has been booming in 2020. It is a murder-mystery style game wherein crewmates are burdened with tasks while also trying to figure out who the killers are, AKA the Impostors. Though at surface level the game may look as your ordinary game out in the market, but as simple as it may be, it has brought forward so many unexpected YouTube collaborations and also formed new friendships with strangers all over the world even without physical contact.
The six-month quarantine has indeed brought up new ways in our society, may it be for the better or worse. What quarantine trend have you hopped on so far?
