March was the frightening month, locking;
Children with uniform were out of the streets, hiding;
Lessons and lectures were disrupted, disappearing;
Buildings with armchairs had become haunted, idling.
Monday afternoon surprised us with an unexpected news,
No one ever thought it would be the last day to wear school shoes;
Without any farewell, school year has ended in just a wink;
Another academic year would have an uncertain brink.
14th of April was the most awaited time;
Everyone thought it was the day to see sunshine,
But darkness had prevailed when cases reached four digits–
It was the sign, the pandemic will have its longer visit.
Petals of hope fell, fears and uncertainty blossomed in May;
Togas and diplomas of hard work were in disarray;
Dreamed graduation was celebrated in a virtual scheme—
The beginning and the end of academic year was still unseen.
Raining coughs and colds poured in June;
Opening of classes was still not in tune,
Students were screaming academic freeze with a sigh,
But the gray-haired woman has pushed the enrollment to comply.
Two pathways split: continue or halt? choose it in July;
Continue? Slow internet connection might only make you cry;
Halt? But you don't want to be left behind; it's for you to decide.
One path was taken, to risk and trust are what you hold tight.
Preparation and promise had been the assurance of hope;
Modular, Blended, and Online modalities have urged you to cope.
Days of class opening flies, August 24 was just around the corner,
But the Nation's father has given extension and date altered.
Heroes of the school tripled their effort in September;
Machines were devouring thousand copies of paper;
Delivering modules home to home, students should take studies better,
With a long month of preparation, schools are now ready for the semester.
October comes, you will be back on your seat;
Early in the morning, you will be facing a screen;
Late in the evening, you will be finishing activity sheet;
Days come and go, the unknown future of pandemic is now to be seen.
